Paper
Reflection:
The process of this paper was mainly
two large chunks. I did roughly half of
it in two segments and then put it up for peer revising. My paper wasn’t entirely long enough so I had
to find some strategies to lengthen it effectively. Through peer advising and my two meetings
with Professor Darling I discovered that I could expand upon some points I
already made to effectively lengthen my essay.
This worked well as I expanded on a couple of paragraphs and added more details
and more of my own opinions. I feel like
adding my own opinions really added another layer of depth to my paper as a
whole. I really thought the peer editing
and professor meetings really helped advance and improve my paper.
Through
this paper I feel like I really learned more about the process of bringing
about change in society in both the past and present. I learned that education and hope are
necessary to bring about change. Active
participation and doing the small things really do make a change and bring
about bigger and better things in the end.
Rosa Parks didn’t bring about the civil rights movement in one day on a
bus. She did many little things
throughout the course of her live to bring about the dramatic change that was
the civil rights union. Little by little
things change. For example how to you
eat an elephant? “One bite at a time.”
This quote shows that to accomplish great and seemingly impossible tasks
you have to just do a little bit at a time and you will eventually achieve you
goal. This paper taught me how just one
person can ignite change and bring others on the ride with them using the
elements of education, hope, and social change.
